Life Goes On

Life goes on and things continue to progress. It just depends on which way we want to go I guess. But I have to look at the positive changes and not be sad about my children "progressing" and growing up so fast. I have to admit I've enjoyed Jacob growing up far more than Kimmie. He's more mellow of a personality and is so loving to me. He's my little baby boy and I don't mind that he still seems like a baby. I came home one Sat. morning from a meeting and Lane had pulled out the crib and put in the bed from downstairs.

Jacob has fun during his meals and thinks it's funny to do things that will get him into the tub after eating. I can't always afford for him to be this messy, if I have to be somewhere, but he had fun this day. And then a picture Lane didn't want Jacob to be known as "Mr. Queen"--wanting Jacob to be fully "boy". It's okay, wearing a crown once in awhile won't hurt him.

Lane was given a plaque from his company. I think he was 1 out of 5 from Les Olson Company to receive one and I think 1 out of 60? in the Nation from scoring high on a copier technician test (wanting to win a trip for his family to Disney World--but won a $300 Blue Ray disc player instead. :0)

Food Play and playing with food

This last week of January I took a few pictures of things going on around here. Thanks to my friend, Anna, I had to steal her idea and take pictures of our creations also. I had all the ingredients, so we had fun making these.

Lane had a birthday, so I made him his favorite kind of cake --same kind his Grandpa Revis likes, yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Kimmie was so proud of it (she cracks the eggs for me every time we make stuff) she wanted a picture of her with it. She also wanted to blow out the candles. I let her do the magic candle, she blew it out several times and it finally left so much wax on the frosting I had to dig it out and put new frosting. Lane's 35 now...and feeling his age!

For Lane's birthday he got the movies he asked for. It was a Wed. so I was in Bountiful and his work let him off at 3pm. So he picked me up and we headed North to shop a little, then used a Chili's gift card his parents gave us to eat out. We always end up having strange dates. We're both very indecisive when it comes to knowing where we want to eat, so before we went with Chili's we drove around looking at different places while we drove to the store's we'd shop at....Lane said, "Oh, I heard Sego Lily is a good place"...as we got closer we saw it was a hair salon. :0) He was thinking of something else...ha ha. Or other things that happen to us are when Lane wants me to try a great restaurant he found and it's always "closed for repairs" "gas leak" it's 7pm and it's only "open 10am-4pm" or it's 5pm and they're "open 6pm-10pm". We just have the strangest luck, but the one we hit more often then not is "CLOSED--moved/out of business". So we laugh when we go out to eat at which places Lane has been to, will most likely be out of business the next time he goes there...bad ohman? Who knows. It keeps a smile on our faces. Anything is better than McDonald's, especially if the kids aren't with us--we're NOT going to eat at a fast food place. ahhh, peace and quiet and no food "flinging" all over the place. Plus when we're on dates (which we need to do more often) I find myself laughing a lot more. We have a great time learning how to date all over again. Kids take it out of us. But we still end up just thinking about the kids while we're gone and miss them....so we buy them things. he he

Tuesday night my brother called and said look out the window at the moon and the planet next to it. Pretty brite! So I took a picture, and you can see it. The moon, and the planet to the top left of it. You can see the neighbor's houses below.

I came downstairs one afternoon to find Kimmie quiet and made her own bed in our toy bin.

Upcoming events:

Jacob turns 2 in three weeks. Kimmie turns 4 in about 4.5 weeks. Our stake conference is Valentine's weekend, the 5-year anniversary day of us moving into this house...and I was asked by the Stake President to speak at the adult session, we'll see how that goes. And the topic Kimmie talks about constantly now is Disneyland!!! She can't wait to go in July (me especially) the last time I was there was 15 years ago.

Kimmie's funny sayings this month:

--Can you wash my cracker? (it dropped in raw egg on the counter)

--Yum, my nice and fresh cooked pear!

--Ha ha, that mirror likes me!

--Kimmie drew a picture and said, "Ha ha ha, I see my dad's little belly button when I drew that!" as she pointed to the picture.

One day I cooked a chicken in the crock pot. I was taking the meat off the bones and showed Kimmie the wish bone and told her what I'd do as a kid and said it had to dry before we could make a wish. Then we got ready for bed and when I put Kimmie to bed I found that Jacob had gotten sick and fell asleep with stuff all over him. I woke him up and gave him a bath, changed the bedding and Lane checked him through the night. In the morning Kimmie yelled under my door in an urgent, "Momma, I have something to tell Yoou!!" I was thinking--is Jacob sick, did she wet the bed, is everyone okay? I said, "What." Then she said what I wasn't expecting, "The wish bone is already dry!" It put a smile on my face.

--Jacob's funny thing this month: A cartoon was playing and a character said, "Today is my birthday!" I said to Kimmie, "That's neat, daddy's birthday is today too". Then Kimmie continued to talk and the character said, "Do you like birthday parties?" and Jacob imediately said in a dull, boring tone, "No." He's so funny when he jabbers and decides to say something. No or Don't are common words....same with "Oh NO!"--like when Lane plays a car game and crashes.

January fun

Mid January already and snow has melted a little, but has been pretty nippy outside. We had a fun past 2 weeks doing different things. Here are the latest and most recent pics....

Speaking of con artist, I was finishing up business after changing Jacob's diaper and thought he was downstairs. Well, if you don't put the clip on the opened cutting board then he can crawl up the drawers and get onto the cupboard. After awhile I went in to see what he was doing. I saw him, told him to stay put--and ran and grabbed my camera. He cooperated :0).

Kimmie has a lot of fun each week playing with her friend. Last week her friend came over and she taught McCall how to play Break the Ice.

Last night Kimmie fell asleep (talking one second, silent the next!) She had her stuffed animal on top of her face and her arms were the way they'd be when she slept deep as a baby. So funny.

Kimmie's favorite thing with Daddy or Uncle Jason, walking on the ceiling. Thank goodness Daddy has strong arms and shoulders!

Kimmie loves preschool. She has it twice a week. She's made a couple of friends, one is Sommer from our ward. Jacob loves having Mommy-Jacobeans time while she's gone for 3 hours. Oh, the things I can get done now!


Jacob is my little organizer. He loves to get our canned food and stack it, sort it, arrange it. He's just like me when I was a kid. Kimmie started helping him. Jacob also has a long attention span for a kid his age. He does get into things, lately, quite often, but when I see his cute face smiling back at me I just can't get mad. I do, however, need to learn to listen more to the "still quiet voice" (aka, the spirit) when it tells me to do something. EVERYTIME I don't listen I regret it. Today it was, "You better put the clip on the cutting board or Jacob will be on the counter before you get out of the shower". I thought--Oh, they're playing fine in the front room. They won't think about the kitchen. I got out of the shower and found Jacob on the counter playing in a pile of orange flavored metamucil powder (granted, they need it, but not in that quantity). He poured the whole container out. I don't know how much they ingested but Kimmie had 1/2 c. of powder in a glass ready to eat and Jacob was licking his fingers. After vacuuming up all of it off the counter, linoleum and rug and mopping the semi-sticky floor, I now know not to leave any yummy flavored stuff around, let alone opened!

Jacob is always so handsome and cute. This is him ready for church, but he's not in his booster seating eating, so I didn't get a front shot--he's always walking away. He is doing great in nursery at church. I even drop him off. He whimpers, but is fine once we leave. Kimmie is a Sunbeam and likes her new teachers. Church is now 9am-noon. So anyone from out of state calling on Sunday mornings (7am-1:30pm Missouri time) you won't catch us home. Lane is in meetings starting at 6:30am--then I meet him with the kids at 9am. It's hard to get ready and out the door on time without pulling my hair out, but I did it. I like church early, even though I'm not a morning person. It's nice to have an afternoon of semi-quiet (Jacob and Lane nap). Kimmie and I find something to do. We have new houses/people added to our ward/church and we go to a different church building. It's smaller and nice. It'll feel like home before we know it.
