Discovery Gateway The Children's Museum

In downtown Salt Lake City there is a place called the Gateway. There are many different stores. One of the places we went to on Tuesday, April 7th was the Children's Museum. For a whoppin' $8.50 Kimmie, Jacob and I got in. We spent over 5 hours there. Even though we live out West and South of downtown, we drove to WX and rode FrontRunner (train) from WX to downtown meeting cousin Olivia and Aunt Kristy on it from Clearfield's stop. Then we don't have to pay for parking. We got to ride TRAX also. Jacob LOVES trains!
This picture is in the FARM section
When she gathered the eggs a sensor makes the coops "cluck"

One of the kids' favorite spots of the museum. You fill the bucket and gradually the balls go to the top and down the tubes where other kids gather them.

I liked this quote I saw on the wall there by the balls

I love Jacob's little boots!

In the little kitchen--Kimmie didn't care much for it. Too crowded. Did I mention it was Spring break? The place was packed!~

Kimmie's FAVORITE place to play: THE STORE

The "checker" pushed buttons and you hear "clean up on isle 4, clean up on isle 4" or "today is double coupon day!", or "help on checkstand 2 please".

Buying bread
Produce, all plastic vegetables and fruits. It all comes from the "farm" that she played at first.
Jacob played with this toy forever in the baby "safe" section.
But the WATER was the most popular by far for all kids! BUSY! I couldn't get Jacob away from it. We'd be all the way across the museum and he'd take off running and I always found him in this same place. I put both kids in RED for the very purpose of finding them easy in a crowd.

You put ping pong balls in holes and tubes and they go floating down the water ways.
Kimmie at the store---for the 3rd trip!
drains and gadgets and water, oh my!
A mini bath tub with ping pong balls to plug it up. Kimmie worked the pump. Jacob would try to drink the water, just like all of the other little kids. It smelled like strong chlorine.
Jacob always has his tongue out when water is involved!
Kimmie turning the crank for water to go up in the cans and then dump it out.
We were exhausted when we left. We stayed until closing then ate at the food court. We said bye to Olivia, Cameron and Kristy and walked to meet TRAX. Before we got to the corner it came. I yelled to Kimmie "RUN". We made it to the corner, our light turned green, we RAN across the street (me, skidding Kimmie's knees and shoes in the process) while pushing the stroller and holding Kimmie's hand. We made it on TRAX. Then TRAX was 5 min. late to make FrontRunner but it was still there. I got out of TRAX and we RAN to the train. I sat down and it left 30 seconds later. My heart was pounding. I didn't want to wait another 1/2 hr. for the next TRAX or train with 2 little kids around strangers. My heart was pounding, we barely made it. When the train started a man came down from the first train and pointed to us and smiled and said, "I saw you runnin' and I waited for you!" I said, "Oh, thank you! So much!" Then we slept over at Grandma's house to go to Ogden the next day to see my Sister and her baby.
