SPRING has sprung!

Two Friday's ago Lane called in the afternoon and said he wanted to get a slide at Lowe's and wanted my permission to buy it and start putting it up tomorrow. He came home with a shorter one than we were originally planning, but it is great and the kids love love love their daddy for it! Not to mention mommy will love that the kids love it so I can get some stuff done because Spring is here and it'll be time to do laundry on the line and other fun summer chores.

The slide is 10 feet long and the angle is fast and steep and soooo much fun! Even for me! I married the most wonderful, handsome/cute, talented and hard working man in the world. It's neat to see him do things for the kids and queen he loves more than anything.

Jacob has mastered the technique --literally, quickly.

Their new toy for a day.
Kimmie is so good at art. She painted this of her "friend, Olivia" and her.
Lane gave me these last Monday for no reason. I love them!
I don't think I've ever seen more beautiful colors together. I smell them every time I pass them.
Our yard isn't quite as pretty, but I can't wait until our flowers come up!

As you can see they're on their way. Yay!
What an exhausting day! (This is a very rare occasion in our house)

A Bunch of Funny Sayings from the Kid(s)

Kimmie's funny things for the month of March. Jacob doesn't really talk yet, so his are few.
All before 7:30am one day Kimmie said these:

"I'd like 2 cups of orange juice and 5 cups of salad".

"Momma, there are 4 eggs left in the fridge waiting for me to eat!"

"I hurt my hip 'cause I fell on a wall!" (More like, ran into a wall)

"Momma, my window thinks it's morning!" (the sun was coming in bright)

These next few are in March and February...and some even back in December.
"Momma! I'm wearing all pink because today is St. Pink's Day!"

"I need lotion because my heart is hard." (If only it were that easy to soften people's hearts)

"Momma--I'm gonna wake up spankin' dry." (Going to bed in hopes not to wet it)

Kimmie stuck her arm in her whipped cream and said, "Momma, look what someone did to my elbow".

We watched Freaky Friday on Disney Channel one morning and the part where the mom and daughter try to run into each other to change back to themselves made Kimmie say, "Momma, if I go over here and you go over there and you bump me, I'll just get a big bottom!" :0)

"This is my coat from Chinese". Then a few weeks later said, "This is my brush from Mexican, and this is my purple comb from Grandma!"

"I want some juuuuuice a poose."

Lane let's her play with his cell phone and take pictures. She came to him and said, "Dadda, there's something wrong with this phone 'cause it's ringing!" And there was someone on the phone when Lane took it from her.

Lane's always telling her, "Stay focused, stay focused." So one day she said to me, "Momma, I'll help you find the butter, I'm focused, I'm focused."

Kimmie whispered: Hey momma, I've got a great idea! (really serious) I said, "what?" She said, "We could mail presents!" "Mail presents...to who?" She said, "Me, from Santa!" (she's so clever!)

She drank a lot of water, ran to the bathroom and when she came back she said, "Momma, two glasses of water make poop!"

Kimmie put a whole cherry chocolate in her mouth and Grandma said to give one to mommy. So Kimmie took another one and walked over to me and spit the one out into my hand.

"Look momma, I made my bed." I said, "Oh, nice, for who--Santa?" She said, "No, for me. Santa's too big!"

I asked Kimmie to pick up all of her puzzle pieces off the floor. I returned a bit later and said, "Kimmie, look how clean you're making the floor-how nice!" She said, "Yeah, and look how dirty I'm making the table."

I was teaching her how to "give me 5". Then she said, "Momma, you do this.... look, I'll hit your hand..then you hit mine. No, go slowly, then I'll go fastly."

I said, "Kimmie, Grandma has a mommy, do you know what her name is?" Kimmie said, "Grandma Schmidt". It took me back, thinking Whoa-that is my Great-Grandma's name and we hadn't talked about that name.

"Where are's she?" (refering to Grandma) Kimmie and I both laughed, she sounded like a pirate.

Background: Kimmie left her boots at Grandma's house. We bought Jacob some boots and we just put them on him and I said, with the accent of Shrek 2, "Look, Kimmie at Jacob's 'cute lit'l boots". Kimmie said, "Yeah, and my boots are in a far far away place!" I laughed so hard, she has no idea what "lit'l boots" and "far far away" have in common. We don't own Shrek 2.

One day my parents stayed in the car with Kimmie (back when she was little little) while I ran into a store. I returned to the car and my parents were at the point of tears and laughing so hard I could barely understand what they were trying to tell me. Kimmie looked at the bottom of her shoe and asked Grandma and Grandpa, "Is that #2 on my shoe?" They thought, "What?" and smiled and said, "Uh, no, it's a 7" and burst out laughing.

"Look what's on top of my ear! Gunk!"

"Does Jacobeans want a little ba-bittle of this?"

We were eating at a fastfood place with a play land and I heard Kimmie talking to the other kids around her and saying Hi to everyone and she pointed to herself and Jacob and said, "My name is Kimmie and this is Jacobeans". (his nickname)

Kimmie named her pet rock, naturally, "Rocky". She also said, "I'm a teenager" and that her "heart is beeping slow"....and cried while she was trying to put on a turtle neck from Grandma Callahan "I'm not out of my hole yet!" She was really disturbed about it.

We saw a dog and she said, "Hey! Get away you dog...." and I said while walking in and shuting the door, "sweetie, dogs don't understand people..." and she quickly said, "Then I'll speak dog!"

"I'm 4, I'm not a kid anymore. I'm just a regular old kid 'cause I do stuff I'm not supposed to do."

Kimmie wanted some candy and I told her no. We went downstairs and she went back up to go potty, and then I thought she'd been gone awfully long, so what would a 4-year old be doing? Exactly what I did when I was 4. I went upstairs and found the pantry door open, with a chair in front of it....clue #2 (#1 being she never returned) #3, my bedroom door was shut :0) I went in and there she was hiding by my bed eating the piece of candy she wanted....and there was the wrapper in the garbage. I laughed and said, "Do you want to hear a story of when I was little?" I told her, "I thought my mom left the house, so I ran into her room and got under her bed and took out one of my Christmas presents and opened it. It was some stamps and I started stamping them all over my hands and I heard a click....that my mom (grandma) had come into the room. I froze knowing I was going to be caught...and I was scared. She spanked me and I ran into my room and hid under my bed for a long time". She thought the story was funny. Later she said, "Momma, when I get stamps for Christmas I am going to stamp them all over my hands too!" (such a funny thing to remember about the story, she didn't care about the moral)

For breakfast one morning we were watching The Testaments and Kimmie heard Jesus say, "...and he that believeth in my shall never die"...and she said, "Shall never die?" I said, "Yes, if you believe in Jesus and do what he's asked you to do we'll never die" (have eternal life). Kimmie said, "I'm never gonna die", so sweetly.

Lane is a copier technician for Les Olson Company. So we have a copier in our house. Lane was drawing K I M M I E and said to Kimmie, giving her the crayon, "Okay, now you copy it", so she put her crayons down and was ready to run into the storage room to use the copier. He meant trace or copy the letters underneith and draw it just like daddy did. No other kid would think of going to use the copier. We thought that was pretty funny.

Now, about Jacob:

One morning he came into my room and crawl into the bed and plops down on top of me (morning routine) and he layed on my head and he was trying to get something out of his mouth. I thought he ate a hair of mine and he was spitting and grabbing his tongue. He spit and I saw what was on his hand and before I could react he wiped his booger all over my knee!

One Sunday in January, our first month in our new ward building with different boundaries and added people, we sat down in sacrament meeting by some friends and he said, "Uh, you lost one". I could figure out what he meant, then motioned his head to my left. Jacob had gone under the bench (we were about the 5th row from the front on the side rows) and by the time I got up and to the back of the chapel, Jacob was out and running out of sacrament meeting and down the hall. He's fast! He laughs and thinks it's so much fun.

If you knew Kimmie, then you'd understand what it looked like when she was yelling at Jacob. Well, he's learning from her. He went to the bottom of the stairs and while she was going up he was imitating her. Or he'll do what Kimmie does to him, to me...he'll run in front of me and stop me from walking and say, "No!" He makes me laugh.
If you give Jacob flowers he says, "ah ah ah tooo" like he's sneezing, but sometimes says "Flow-wow". He says, Nee-ow for Meow. EE, I, E, I.
Ow, No, baby, dadda, momma, hey!, Oh No!, yay!, dut dut foose (duck duck goose), muuuahh! (when he gives the cutest kisses).
I think that's it for now.

Draper, Utah Temple Open House

This is a sealing room where a man and woman are married not "until death do you part" but are sealed together for time (earth life) and All Eternity (Forever after the resurrection). What is bound on earth is bound in heaven according to our faithfulness. Lane and I were married in a room just like this one and kneeled at the alter in the center of the room, both of us dressed all in white. And since we were sealed before we had children, our children are "born under the covenant". So they will be our children for all eternity also. If we had children, then got married in the Temple, then our children would go into the temple with us and we would all be sealed together as long as we were living the way the Church of Jesus Christ teaches. I'm thankful for forever families. Families are "Central to the Creator's Plan". They come first, before anything or anyone else after God. Think of it as J.O.Y. "Jesus, Other's, Yourself" and you won't go wrong.

Sat., March 7, 2009

We went to the open-house of the Draper Temple

I decided to blog it like I saw my other friend and show our ride to the Temple...Kimmie wouldn't smile for the camera.
Jacob smiled!!

and Lane looked handsome, as usual.

After going through the Temple we went to a church and had cookies and water. Kimmie did this.....

...and then this...

Andrea and Evelyn...it was a long day.

Jason, Andrea, Evelyn

In the picture below, Evelyn sneezed right after it was taken...

The sun was really bright

Dad, Mom and Paul

Lane, Kimmie, Jacob, Julie

I like looking up pictures and thoughts and quotes from the prophets and apostles. Seeing what other temple's look like is neat and to know there is progression happening out there with over 100 temples around the world in operation. The Lord's work is rolling forth and will continue until it fills the whole earth as prophesied in the Bible.
I was 4-1/2 years old when I first went through a temple open house. It was the Jordan River Temple. All I remember were escalators. Kimmie will probably remember a little bit about this. We sat in the Sealing room (just like the first picture on this post). It was beautiful and brought back many happy memories. I let Kimmie look through the mirrors and see forever (2 mirrors facing each other) symbolizing eternity and families being bound together forever if they're married and sealed through the Priesthood ordinance in the Temple. Our church is the only church with the authority to baptize and marry the way the Lord has taught. We don't share this to say we are better than other churches, we share this so that everyone may also partake of the blessings that have been restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. Because we share the same beliefs as other churches plus we have the fullness of the gospel with no pieces missing. That is why there are so many different churches on the earth. They all have good in them and are doing the best they know how. But there is only one true church, and it has been given to the earth once more.
We also saw the baptismal font with the 12 oxen underneith it. Kimmie wanted to go swim in it. The Celestial room was smaller than most I've seen. But very peaceful and beautiful.
We love all of our families very very much. We want to share the "good news" (definition of Gospel) with them. I'm thankful to know that if anything happens to my husband, kids, parents etc. that I will see them again because we are sealed together. Truth is eternal and everlasting no matter what anyone else may say otherwise.

We also saw the Bride's room. March 22, 2009 the Draper Temple will be Dedicated and then begin operation. yay!!

Happy Birthday Kimmie!

You may ask why she is doing this face? I have no idea other than I told her to smile for the camera to take a picture of her pj's she got for her birthday.
March 6, 2009
Kimmie is now 4-years old
Then I told her to be normal and smile and I got this....
Cousin Evelyn had fun celebrating with us also. Andrea and Uncle Paul also came over to spend the day with Kimmie and 2 hours with her friends.
Jacob had just as much fun with her gifts as she did. He painted beautifully.
This is from mommy and daddy. "I Can Be....a baby doctor Barbie". It was the most modest barbie I could find--the one with the most clothes on.
Mommy also got her these glitter paint pens. She LOVES them, mommy does not. But it occupies her and she makes pretty art work with them.
Her friend, Emily gave her the Crayola wonder paper. Jacob got one from Caleb. They both love them. It's GREAT for church during sacrament meeting.
Here is Kimmie's favorite gift from her friend, McCall.

Everyone I invited to the party came. I was very surprised. They all had fun playing with the presents. Kimmie got some really cute things. A view-finder with Care Bear pictures from Blossom, a little mermaid doll set that you can change the rubber clothes on a "tiny" doll...Kimmie loves it.

This is Kyson explaining his gift to Kimmie. He was so serious, it was funny. It's a cool camera with pictures in it of princesses and it talks when you take pictures.

Here's Kimmie, Blossom, Caleb, Somer and Jacob's back

They ALL gathered to see her open them. It, being my first birthday party to throw for a kid, surprised me how much interest kids have in each others' things.

Here's Andrea talking to Kyson. He said, "I'm getting tired of this game". It was funny. Jacob looks like he's trying to see what's wrong also.

The kids are playing "I had a little doggie" while they wait for lunch to get out of the oven.
It's McCall, Emily, Caleb, Somer, Kimmie's back and Blossom is standing.

I tried to do a train cake out of zingers. Tracks out of licorice, jelly beans for rocks and brown sugar for dirt...powdered sugar for snow and marshmallows for smoke. The magic candles only worked for a little bit. I was video taping the singing and blowing out of candles (every kids helped blow and the powdered sugar went everywhere--wasn't thinking) so I didn't get a picture. It was a really fun day!! I think I had more fun than Kimmie did. Well, maybe not. It was a lot of fun (and help) to have Paul and Andrea there to help me with "crowd control".

Happy 2nd Birthday, Jacob!
Feb. 22, 2009

Kimmie has to get her last lickin's in before we have no snow!

We "dolled" up Kimmie, curled her hair and ready for church.

Telling Jacob to "be quiet"
Uh....I ate berries??

Life Goes On

Life goes on and things continue to progress. It just depends on which way we want to go I guess. But I have to look at the positive changes and not be sad about my children "progressing" and growing up so fast. I have to admit I've enjoyed Jacob growing up far more than Kimmie. He's more mellow of a personality and is so loving to me. He's my little baby boy and I don't mind that he still seems like a baby. I came home one Sat. morning from a meeting and Lane had pulled out the crib and put in the bed from downstairs.
Jacob has fun during his meals and thinks it's funny to do things that will get him into the tub after eating. I can't always afford for him to be this messy, if I have to be somewhere, but he had fun this day. And then a picture Lane didn't want Jacob to be known as "Mr. Queen"--wanting Jacob to be fully "boy". It's okay, wearing a crown once in awhile won't hurt him.
Lane was given a plaque from his company. I think he was 1 out of 5 from Les Olson Company to receive one and I think 1 out of 60? in the Nation from scoring high on a copier technician test (wanting to win a trip for his family to Disney World--but won a $300 Blue Ray disc player instead. :0)
